the wanderer

a post which i feel is ridiculously over-due, in fact about 7 months over-due, having discovered this in september; DIOR HOMME. looking back over  past seasons into dior homme, i am in love with every element from the autumn winter 11/12 fashion video. created by artistic and creative director kris van assche and shot by  photographer willy vanderperre, "the wanderer" carries on the eerie, american gothic vibe that the spring summer 11 campaign explored. the garments (the capes and hats do it for me), models, videos, stills, runway, music... of this campaign is a huge influence on how i perceive brands through promotional material like this, recently being given a brief to create my own self promotional and london fashion weekend video. with an element of secrecy and mystery, the campaign is creepy, it's weird, a little bit scary and makes you want to watch more and more of this strange character dancing around on your screen, which is what i enjoy most about it. the deconstructed tailoring and 'less is more' aesthetic of the garments carries out through to the spring summer 12 collection, only in lightly tonal and muted colours, as does another eerie fashion video again by willy vanderperre, released only a few days ago for SS12.
